BOSTON (WBZ) ― The trolley driver accused of causing Friday's Green Line crash could be fired and may face criminal charges this week.

24-year-old Aiden Quinn of Attleboro told police he was sending a text message to his girlfriend before his trolley struck a stopped train near the Government Center station.

Federal investigators said he drove through a red light just before the crash.

Debbie Hersman of the National Transportation Safety Board said Sunday that the point of collision was 80 feet past a red signal.

NTSB officials found no mechanical problems with the train and no problems with the track or signals between Government Center and Park Street.

Quinn missed a scheduled meeting with investigators on Sunday. A T spokesman said Quinn called to say he wasn't feeling well.

The NTSB has requested all cell phone records leading up to the time of the crash.

About 50 people were hurt in the accident, none seriously.

The NTSB reported that three of the four trolleys involved were destroyed – costing $9.5 million in damage.
