The MBTA trolley operator accused of texting when he slammed into another train has received four speeding tickets while driving private vehicles since 2002.
The state Registry of Motor Vehicles said Monday 24-year-old Aiden Quinn received two speeding tickets in New Hampshire in April 2007, one in Raynham in 2003 and one in Middleborough in December 2002.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo told WBZ the violations would not have prevented Quinn from being hired, because they all happened before he joined the T in July 2007.
Pesaturo said anyone with three moving violations in the year before they apply will not be hired by the MBTA as a trolley operator.
The records show Quinn was also involved in a car accident in Boston last year but was not cited.
He was operating
a Green Line trolley Friday evening when he rear-ended another train near the Government Center Station.
The crash sent nearly 50 people to the hospital. No one was seriously hurt.
Investigators say Quinn was texting his girlfriend and ran a red light when he hit the other trolley.
He could be fired and face possible criminal charges this week.
Quinn missed a scheduled meeting with investigators on Sunday. A T spokesman said Quinn called to say he wasn't feeling well.
The NTSB has requested all cell phone records leading up to the time of the crash.
