Hail, Thunderstorms Pummel Parts Of Mass.
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several Massachusetts counties Monday afternoon.
There are numerous cells around southeast Massachusetts that are producing very heavy rainfall, lightning and destructive hail. Several damage reports, including lightning strikes and hail have already been reported.
A flash flood warning was issued earlier today for central Bristol County and southern Plymouth County.
Winds with this system are expected to reach an excess of 60 miles per hour as it moves north east. The storm is not moving very fast about 14 miles per hour, according to WBZ meteorologists.
Quarter inch to 1.25 inch hail has already been reported in Plymouth, North Kingston and Seekonk. A resident in Seekonk told WBZ her yard was covered in moth-ball-sized hail.
Lightning struck a house at 11 Tide View Path in Plymouth, causing a small fire. Another house at 65 Scott Road also caught fire after being struck by lightning. Both fires were quickly knocked down.
