Thousands Flock To Head Of Charles Regatta
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Local businesses are expecting to get a big boost this weekend thanks to large crowds and one of the great fall traditions in Boston
the Head of the Charles Regatta.
Thousands of rowers from around the world are competing in this weekend's regatta.
"No other regatta has as many teams competing and with this many races," said Ashley Barnes with the Marquette University crew team. "It's just a huge deal."
The Head of the Charles is the world's largest two-day rowing event.
It's expected to draw more than 300,000 spectators, but some teams did scale back a bit because of the sinking economy.
"We took a few less people this year so it was a little bit less expensive but we're doing what we can," said Rachel Stoll with the Marquette University crew team.
Parking can be hairy for those driving into the city to watch the regatta. Find out
where to park and download a map of the rowing course.
