Lincoln police officials said the car crashed through a side entrance and drove into the building.
Police said school had been let out about 30 minutes earlier and no students were hurt.
Carmel Mendoza, a school secretary, said she and another employee tried to pull the man from the car after it crashed and burst into flames.
Mendoza identified the driver as a special education teacher's aide, but police have not released the victim's identity.
The man had been fired from his job earlier in the day, and witnesses said he was distraught as he left the building minutes before the crash.
School officials said at an afternoon news conference that they don't know yet if school will be canceled Monday. In the meantime, school activities have been canceled for the weekend.
