Police Identify Man Killed In Lincoln H.S. Crash

LINCOLN, R.I. (WBZ) ― Police have identified the man who was killed when his car crashed into a Rhode Island high school Friday afternoon.

Jay Paul, 34, a teacher's aide at Lincoln High School (View Map), crashed through a side entrance on the property and drove into the building after 3 p.m.

Police said school had been let out about 30 minutes earlier and no students were hurt.

Carmel Mendoza, a school secretary, said she and another employee tried to pull the Paul from the car after it crashed and burst into flames.

Paul had been fired from his job earlier in the day, and witnesses said he was distraught as he left the building minutes before the crash.

School was back in session on Monday. A crisis intervention team was at Lincoln High providing support and counseling for students and staff.
