A hip check from a fast-acting MBTA employee is being credited with stopping an alleged T-stop thief.
It happened at the Broadway Station on the Red Line. Prosecutors say Casey Tarushka, 23 of Hull, robbed a woman then started to run away. That's when a T employee got in his way and threw a hip check.
The move knocked the alleged thief off-balance. The T employee, who did not want to be identified, then held Tarushka until MBTA police arrived on scene.
