Mass. Men Arrested In Home Invasions
BELMONT (WBZ) ―
Police have arrested two men wanted in a series of home invasions in New Jersey and Florida.
Rafael A. Laboy, 27, of Ludlow and Eddie T. Laboy, 18, of Springfield were arrested without incident Saturday afternoon as they left a Trapelo Road coffee shop, police said.
The pair, who police believe are related, will be charged in connection with home-invasion robberies last month in Tinton Fall, N.J., and this month in Miami Beach, Fla., police said.
They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Cambridge District Court on fugitive from justice charges, police said. In addition, Rafael Laboy will be arraigned on warrants from western Massachusetts for violation of probation and being a habitual traffic offender.
Police in Miami Beach had notified Belmont police to be on the lookout for Rafael Laboy, who was believed to be in the area. The arrests were made after officers Shiraz Banosian and Robert Sacca spotted and identified one of the men, police said. Belmont detectives and State Police assisted them in the arrest.
"It's a good job by all," police Chief Richard J. McLaughlin said in a news release.
A third man, Miguel A. Perez, 40, of Belmont was arrested with the other men on a Waltham District Court default warrant, police said. He was not charged in connection with the home invasions.
