SUV Chase Ends In Backyard Pool

LOWELL (WBZ) ― A police chase in Lowell early Thursday morning came to a crashing end - in a pool.

Police say it all started when Jesse Masa, 37, of Nashua, N.H., used a Jeep Cherokee to smash into the Rent-A-Center on Plain Street to steal a television around 1 a.m.

Officers caught up to him minutes later and chased him to Hanson Terrace where, for some unexplained reason, Masa drove into a yard and through a fence.

He missed a tree, but landed in a pool in Steve Silva's backyard.

Masa was able to get out of the Jeep and out of the pool, but he was arrested moments later.

No one was hurt. A large crane removed the SUV from the pool.

Masa will be arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court.
