BOSTON (AP) ― Sen. John Kerry says he hasn't spoken to anyone in the Obama camp about a possible position in the new administration, and talk of him being tapped for secretary of state or some other post is "speculation."

The Massachusetts Democrat said Tuesday he's interested in ascending to the chairmanship of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but refused to outline any potential agenda until the Senate Democratic caucus ratifies committee posts next week.

The current chairman, Sen. Joseph Biden, will become vice president.

The No. 2 Democrat on the panel, Sen. Chris Dodd, says he wants to remain chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

That would give the chairmanship to Kerry, the No. 3 Democrat on the committee.
