CBS4, in conjunction with the CBS Television Network, The Boston Pops, and Boston 4 Celebrations Foundation, will broadcast the nation's premier Fourth of July celebration. Coverage of Boston's Independence Day celebration begins with live reports from the Esplanade during CBS4's 5:00 a.m.-7:00a.m. newscasts. As the excitement and crowds build, CBS4 News at Noon, 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. will also be filled with the latest preparations and updates from the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade.

At 7:00 p.m., Paula Ebben and Scott Wahle, co-anchors of CBS4 News' morning and noon newscasts, host "Celebrating American Heroes." For this one-hour pre-show, Sports Director Bob Lobel, Arts & Entertainment Anchor Joyce Kulhawik, Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow and Sports Anchor Steve Burton help recognize local heroes and bring viewers the local flavor with behind the scenes preparations and excitement from the crowd.

CBS4 anchors Lisa Hughes and Jack Williams assume hosting duties for the 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular," which opens with the Star Spangled Banner sung by local "American Idol" top-10 finalist Ayla Brown. The treasured concert continues as Maestro Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops perform with the "often imitated; never duplicated," five-person a capella group, Rockapella. Paula Ebben and Scott Wahle report from a new camera location to capture sweeping shots of the enormous, jubilant crowd. Joyce Kulhawik, Bob Lobel, Ken Barlow and Steve Burton will also be front-and-center giving viewers the best seat in the house and an exclusive look at the performers, fireworks pirotechnicians, and our nation's heroes.

Boston is joined by CBS Network and a national audience at 10:00 p.m. as Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw host the "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" national entertainment special. During this hour, two world-renowned artists with strong local roots, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, take the stage with The Boston Pops to perform a one of a kind, high energy Independence Day show that includes your favorite patriotic songs. The hour culminates with the traditional explosive fireworks display, which will broadcast uninterrupted, commercial-free courtesy of Liberty Mutual Group.
