Boston police are searching for a Dorchester man who is accused of using hundreds of stolen credit card numbers to purchase more than $100,000 worth of Dunkin Donuts gifts cards.
Since April 19, Kevin Nguyen used the gift cards to buy and then re-sell soft drinks from Dunkin Donuts to other small stores, police officials said.
Police arrested him last Friday at a Dunkin Donuts on 179 Brighton Ave. One other suspect has been arrested in the case, and police said they believe there are more involved.
After being released on his own recognizance, Nguyen failed to show up to his arraignment the next day. Police have now issued an arrest warrant for him and ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Boston Police Department.
The suspects allegedly obtained the stolen credit card numbers online in chat rooms where police say people can buy the numbers for as little as 20 cents, including the expiration dates and the three-digit security passwords.
Police say the culprits would then re-load the Dunkin Donuts credit cards with money by going online and would then buy soft drinks in bulk from the store on Brighton Avenue.
Dunkin Donuts alerted Boston police of the group's suspicious activity.
