Police: Father Kidnaps 2-Year-Old Chicopee Girl
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Massachusetts State police say a 43-year-old man snatched his 2-year-old daughter from Chicopee and escaped to New York.
An Amber Alert has not been issued in Massachusetts because police have reason to believe the boy is no longer in the state, officials said. State police have made a request for New York to send out an Amber Alert.
Police said Justice Rose Brown was kidnapped from Memorial Drive in Chicopee Wednesday night by her father, Joel K. Brown.
They may be traveling in a 4-door black or dark blue Chevy Cobalt with Florida license plates.
Justice is described as a 33-pound black girl and is said to be about 36 inches tall. Joel Brown is described as a 180-pound black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
State police said there is a restraining order out against Joel Brown and that he has a history of violence.
State police must adhere to strict criteria in order for an Amber Alert to be issues. One, the child must be under 18 years old. Two, there must be an indication that the child is in imminent danger of bodily injury or death. And three, there must be enough descriptive information in order for the public to be alerted.
