Residents Escape Burning Home In Lawrence

LAWRENCE (WBZ) ― An overnight fire deemed suspicious by investigators has left at least 19 people temporarily homeless.

The three-alarm fire erupted shortly after midnight Thursday in a multifamily home on Bailey Street. A portion of the building collapsed at the height of the blaze.

There were initial concerns that an infant had been left inside the burning building, but Lawrence fire Chief Peter Takvorian said the baby was located and is safe. No injuries were reported.

Local and state fire investigators will be trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
