Storms Knock Out Power To 7,000

Severe thunderstorms rolled through the Boston area Sunday afternoon, bringing lighting and knocking out power to 7,000 customers in the area.

Some 6,000 NStar customers and 1,000 National Grid customers were without power Sunday afternoon when a severe thunderstorm rolled through central and eastern Massachusetts.
NStar officials said customers in Somerville, Arlington, Waltham, Newton, Cambridge, Roslindale and South Boston experienced outages. By 6 p.m., NStar had restored about 1,000 of the outages.
National Grid officials reported about 1,000 customers scattered throughout Boston and Greater Boston were without power.
Crews were working to restore power Sunday evening.
