The family of a 12-year-old Lowell boy
severely injured when he was struck by a car while crossing a city street in a crosswalk has sued the teenage suspect and her father.
Lawyers for Dao Savanhmixay and her son, Kelvin, filed the suit against 17-year-old Michelle Medeiros and her father, Fernando, earlier this month in Lawrence Superior Court.
The suit claims that as a result of the Nov. 18 accident, Kelvin suffers "great pain of body and mind" and has permanent disfigurement.
The family's lawyer says the suit is so Kelvin can receive proper medical care.
Michelle Medeiros, a Methuen High School honors student, has pleaded not guilty to various charges including leaving the scene of an accident and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
