Man Arrested In Calif. In 1994 Lowell Murder
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A Lowell man was arrested in California in connection with the 14-year-old murder of another Lowell man.
Mark Jones was 21 years old when he was gunned down on Skyline Drive on March 18, 1994.
On Wednesday, police arrested 35-year-old Shawn Lessieur in Alameda, Calif., on a murder warrant. He will be extradited to Massachusetts.
Police say Lessieur shot Jones in the head, killing him. A second man, 30-year-old Nolyn Surprenant, was indicted in 2006 on murder charges in connection with Jones' death. Police say Surprenant drove Lessier to and from the murder scene and allege that he knew Lessier planned to and did kill Jones.
Surprenant was arraigned in July 2006. Police later issued an murder warrant for Lessieur.
