Two Lowell Men Convicted Of Murder
LOWELL, Mass. (WBZ) ―
Two Lowell men have been convicted of killing a city man they had arranged to meet and rob.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Jose Luis Claudio and 43-year-old William Santos were found guilty Friday of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
They are scheduled to be sentenced on Monday in Lowell Superior Court.
First-degree murder carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Authorities say that on July 26, 2005, Claudio and Santos arranged to meet 21-year-old Luis Daniel Rodriguez at the corner of School Street and Pawtucket Street in Lowell where they robbed him of a gold and ruby crucifix necklace and shot him in the chest before running off.
Claudio and Santos were both arraigned in October of 2005.
