Missing Peabody Woman's Car Pulled From Pond

Crews pulled Alice Nune's car out of Flax Pond Wednesday afternoon.

PoliceĀ found a body in the submerged carĀ of a missing Peabody woman in Flax Pond in Lynn Wednesday afternoon.
Alice Nunes, 57, disappeared on Dec. 15, 2008 when police say she was returning home from a local bar in Lynn.
Her family received a frantic phone call from Nunes, who said she was about to hit the water. After that, the phone went dead.
"The car was located in approximately 16-feet of water, and about 40- to 50-feet out from the perimeter of Carter Road," said Essex County District Attorney John Blodgett
The pond is a few miles away from Nunes' home in Peabody. Her husband, John, asked police to search the water Wednesday.
Essex District Attorney's spokesman Steve O'Connell said Wednesday that Alice Nunes' identification was found with the body, though it hasn't been positively identified.
Lynn police, Peabody police and Salem's dive team helped recover the car.
