Pilot Killed In Plane Crash On Martha's Vineyard

WEST TISBURY (WBZ) ― A pilot was killed in a plane crash in Martha's Vineyard, state police said.

The Cape Air flight crashed on Nip-N-Tuck Lane in West Tisbury around 8 p.m.

The pilot, 61-year-old David Willey of Vineyard Haven, was the only person on board the plane.

A Cape Air spokesperson told the Cape Cod Times that Willey was headed to Logan Airport to pick up passengers when the plane crashed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but officials at Martha's Vineyard Airport said there were heavy rains and strong winds when Willey took off.

The FAA and the National Transportations Safety Board are investigating.
