Group Organizes Pike Toll Protest For Next Week
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
In response to the proposed toll hikes,
StopThePikeHike.org is calling for Mass. Pike drivers to take part in a protest of the tolls.
The
Pike protest will be held on Dec. 16, and according to site organizers, is "intended to show decision makers the problems the proposed toll increases will have on residents who are forced to seek alternate routes to avoid the proposed toll increases."
The protest is being held on the anniversary of the
Boston Tea Party.
Officials will soon vote on whether or not to increase the tolls. If the measure is approved, tolls on the Pike will
increase drastically.
Drivers using the Weston-128 and the Allston-Brighton tolls will see a 75 cent increase. Tunnel drivers will see tolls jump from $3.50 to $7.
StopThePikeHike.org has listed several routes to help drivers avoid the Mass. Pike on Tuesday.
