Vote To Determine Casino Support In Chicopee

CHICOPEE (WBZ) ― Chicopee residents will vote on whether they would support bringing a casino to their city later this week.

The non-binding vote will happen on Tuesday, and the outcome will help potential casino developers determine the level of local support they would receive in that community.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick filed legislation that would allow three casinos to be built in the state. The bill, which requires any casino proposal to have support from the local community, is currently awaiting legislative action.

According to Patrick, the three proposed casinos would generate 20,000 permanent jobs and $400 million in annual tax revenue.
