Miserable Rain, Sales Tax? Things Could Be Worse!

A man ventures out in yet another rainy day in Massachusetts.

Another day of rain, more bad economic news, tax hikes on Beacon Hill. It's enough to leave you singing the blues.
But things could be worse on all fronts -- all you had to do is take a look around the country, and a look back a few months, too.
But let's be candid, we tend to be a bit self-absorbed around here sometimes, and lately we do have cause for complaint. But I say it's time to put it all in perspective.
CALIFORNIA'S FISCAL MESS
Fiscal sanity in California has been terminated.
Their overspending and budget deficits make ours look like child's play. And the California budget's collapse is poised to cripple the private sector along with social services.
NEW YORK LAWMAKER'S FIASCO
But California's debacle looks like model behavior compared with the gridlock in New York state government right now.

And yes, all this rain is a drag. But think back to last December when ice storms made much of our state uninhabitable.

And just think of all the dough we've been saving on air conditioning costs.
I will admit, when I asked our weather experts to steer me towards a part of the country with worse weather right now, they said there isn't one.
