For the
second time this season, New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Cassel became only the fifth NFL quarterback -- and the first in franchise history -- to throw for 400 or more yards in back-to-back games.
He completed 30 of 43 passes for 415 yards and three touchdowns in the Patriots 48-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins. He also ran for a score.
Cassel, who had not started a game since high school before taking over for an injured Tom Brady in the first week of the season, threw for 400 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-31 overtime loss to the New York Jets on Nov. 13.
Cassel was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after New England's 41-7 win over Denver last month.
