An 18-year-old West Roxbury High School student was hit by a car while getting off her school bus Tuesday afternoon. The driver admitted that she didn't stop.
The accident happened at 459 River Street in Mattapan. One minute the 18-year-old girl was crossing the street, talking to her friends. The next minute she was on the windshield of a passing car.
According to police, the bus had come to a stop and had its flashing lights on and stop sign out.
That's when Pina Yang drove around the bus and hit the teen.
"I don't know. I didn't see the stop sign," Yang told WBZ's Joe Shortsleeve. "I [saw] the cars stopped, the school bus stopped in the middle of the road."
"I didn't see the stop sign. That's my fault," Yang said.
The 18-year-old girl victim was brought to Carney Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Yang was cited for marked lane violations and failure to stop for a school bus.
