Medway police have recovered more than 200 pieces of jewelry and electronics, including PlayStations and iPods, a safe and others items. Police are trying to reunite the stolen loot with their owners. Some of the items may have great personal or sentimental value.
"This is a University of New Hampshire class ring," says Medway Police Sgt. William Kingsbury.
The ring is from the class of 1979, has a football and No. 85 inscribed on it.
Sgt. Kingsbury says all the items were recovered from an Oakland Street house after police arrested the couple living there: Peter Revell, who has a long history of breakins, and Nicole Fernandes.
Medway police had suspected they might have been connected to a series of house-breaks and put them under surveillance. Revell was caught after a Norfolk break-in, police say.
"He was caught coming out of a house with a jewelry box full of jewelry," said Sgt. Kingsbury, adding that Fernandes would pretend to be broken-down in a car, turn on her hazard lights and wait for Revell to finish the breaks. "It appears to be they were seeking gold jewelry they could pawn for cash."
Norfolk Detective Eric Van Ness traced some of the jewelry to a Woonsocket pawn shop.
Van Ness says Revell admitted he has a drug habit and Fernandes had heroin on her. Drug paraphernalia was found in the couple's home. Fernandes was charged with heroin possession.
"We've identified only about a quarter of what we seized from their home," said Sgt. Kingsbury.
So if you believe the class ring or any of the items is yours and you've had a house-break recently in this area, you can contact Medway police, come in and take a look.
The stolen goods are still evidence for now but, once the case is closed, they will be returned to the rightful owners who claim them.
