A Massachusetts' Most Wanted fugitive captured in Oregon in August was returned to Massachusetts Wednesday after being on the run for nearly a year.
The Worcester District Attorney's office says 36-year-old Michael Bresnahan will be arraigned on a burglary charge Thursday in Winchendon District Court, and prosecutors are investigating possible other charges. He is accused of breaking into the home of a 61-year-old Winchendon woman in 2007 and assaulting her at knifepoint.
Police say Bresnahan broke into the former school teacher's house Aug. 30, 2007 and used a knife to hold her hostage for more than two hours while assaulting her.
Bresnahan was arrested Aug.18 after he tried to outrun police along a railroad track in Cottage Grove, Ore. Massachusetts State police brought him back to Worcester County on Wednesday.
Bresnahan was featured on the "America's Most Wanted" television program two days before his capture.
