Search For Missing Boat Called Off
Rescued Man Turns Up Safe At Home
MATTAPOISETT (WBZ) ―
The Coast Guard called off its search for a boat feared missing off Mattapoisett Harbor after a man rescued earlier by that boat was located safe at home.
The boat, a 22-foot Bayliner, originally could not be located after it picked up Fitzroy Libert of Boston. Libert had been aboard an 18-foot pleasure boat that overturned in 3- to 4-foot seas near Mattapoisett Harbor late Sunday morning.
Three other people in that overturned boat were picked up by another boat, the Lady K.
Four rescue vessels began searching for the Bayliner when it could not be contacted. But late Sunday afternoon it was learned that Libert and his two rescuers were safe.
