'Monster' War: Energy Drink v. Vermont Brewery

MORRISVILLE, Vt. (AP) ― The makers of Monster energy drink are taking aim on a Vermont brewery that sells a beer called "Vermonster."

Rock Art Brewery, which is located in Morrisville, says it's been told by Hansen Beverage to cease and desist from selling its Vermonster brand.

Matt Nadeau, owner of Rock Art Brewery, says the beer -- which he created to mark his 10th anniversary in business -- was targeted in a letter from a Hansen Beverage lawyer who said consumers could be confused about which drink is which.

Now, he's trying to drum up support for a battle his web site calls "Rock Art Brewery vs. Corporate America."

Diane Reed, the lawyer who sent the letter, didn't immediately return an e-mail message seeking comment Monday.
