'U30 Bandit" Suspects Were Under Surveillance

The two men believed to be involved in the so-called "U30 Bandit" bank robberies were under surveillance when they allegedly held up a bank in Needham Wednesday.
32-year-old Dimitri Long of Norwood and 44-year-old Michael Coty of Dedham were each ordered held on $250,000 bail at their arraignments in Dedham District Court Thursday.
State police and the FBI say they had the men under surveillance in connection with the U30 heists seven bank robberies in the Boston suburbs since March, each one pulled off in less than 30 seconds.
Investigators say they followed the men to a Sovereign Bank in Needham as it was robbed Wednesday afternoon.
Long was arrested after he left the bank, allegedly carrying a gun and $10,000 in cash in a black satchel.
Coty was captured in Newton after a chase.

In court Thursday, prosecutors said both men have long criminal records and each has spent time in prison.
