Great Plain Avenue in Needham is back open on Monday after a suspicious package found near a pay phone shut the roadway down for hours.
According to police, the device was found near the ramp to I-95.
Officials say the device had wires that attached to the phone. The bomb squad and state police shut down the area immediately.
According to police, the device had a note attached to it that referenced Needham High School. As a precaution, police said the school was evacuated and all after school activities were cancelled.
Great Plain Avenue between Greendale Avenue and the Dedham line was closed off to all traffic and pedestrians for some time as officers cleared the device and made sure the area was safe.
