Woman Killed On Newbury Street

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A pedestrian was killed when she was struck by an SUV on Newbury Street in Boston Thursday.

The 47-year-old woman was hit by a black Jeep Cherokee near Arlington Street just before noon.  Witnesses say the driver appeared to be backing up to park her car when she hit the woman in front of the Taj Boston hotel.

The victim was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she died a short time later.
 
The driver was said to be very upset.  She was also taken away in an ambulance.

Early Thursday evening, police still had not released the victim's name.
