Jailed Dodds Taken To Hospital

DOVER, N.H. (AP) ― There are more questions than answers about exactly what sent former New Hampshire congressional candidate Gary Dodds from jail to the hospital.

Dodds has been in jail since July 3 following his arrest on charges that he assaulted his wife. He was taken to the hospital Wednesday after being found conscious, but unresponsive in his cell at the Strafford County Jail.

Strafford County Sheriff's Capt. Joseph DiGregorio said Dodds was found lying down in his cell Wednesday afternoon by jail staff. DiGregorio said Dodds reportedly received a phone call shortly before he was found. He said officials were investigating whether Dodds received a call, and what it might have been about.

County Attorney Tom Velardi said Dodds' apparently is physically okay, but refusing to talk to anyone.
