Dodds Reaches Deal With Prosecutors

DOVER, N.H. (WBZ) ― Former New Hampshire congressional candidate Gary Dodds' lawyer has worked out a deal with prosecutors to allow him to be released from jail.

This after a judge issued a warrant for Dodds on Monday after receiving a report that he assaulted his wife.

WBZ's Karen Anderson has learned that while Dodds has not yet been released from prison, his new bail conditions are that he will be monitored for 45 days and must be at his designated residence from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

After the 45 days, they will reassess the situation.

Dodds turned in his passport for the 45 days and has agreed to undergo a mental health evaluation, Dodds' attorney J.P. Nadeau said on Wednesday.

It is unclear when Dodds will be released.

Dodds is appealing his case to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

Dodds was found guilty last month of falsifying evidence and causing false public alarm for allegedly faking a car accident and then disappearing for more than a day in April 2006.

He was sentenced to 20 days behind bars and ordered to pay back the $20,500 law enforcement agencies spent looking for him.
