Dodds Released From Jail Under New Bail Conditions

DOVER, N.H. (WBZ) ― Gary Dodds was released from the Strafford County Jail in Dover just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, according to jail officials.

His attorney and prosecutors worked out a deal for his release after he was arrested on Tuesday morning. Prosecutors say Dodds violated his bail conditions after his wife reported to police that he had assaulted her while they were on vacation in Florida.

Under the new bail conditions, Dodds will wear a unit on his ankle with a global positioning system for at least 45 days. After 45 days, prosecutors will look at the case and then decrease restrictions if he is compliant with his curfews and other restrictions.

After 45 days, he'll continue to have frequent phone contact.

Dodds will turn in his passport and undergo a mental health evaluation. Prosecutors will not have access to it, but the people who are supervising him will.

Prosecutors say all of the state's concerns have been met and will make a safer situation for the community, Dodds' family and Dodds. They are pleased with the outcome because Dodds will be supervised in the community pending his appeal to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

Dodds was convicted of falsifying evidence and causing a false public alarm during a search for him after he crashed his car two years ago.
