Lawyers for a man charged with killing a Manchester police officer will receive more than $100,000 dollars in state money to prepare his case.
The state's Judicial Council sought the money to pay for Michael Addison's legal representation. Addison is charged with capital murder and could be executed if he is convicted.
The Executive Council on Thursday approved more than $134,542 to pay Addison's legal bills in 2007.
Addison is being represented by the public defender's office.
Chris Keating, director of the Office of the Public Defender, said providing an adequate defense is constitutionally mandated.
"The state of New Hampshire wants to execute one of our clients," Keating said. "It's serious business."
