Hiker Killed By Falling Boulder In N.H.
FRANCONIA, N.H. (WBZ) ―
A Massachusetts woman died after a boulder fell on her while she was hiking in New Hampshire with her family Thursday afternoon.
Shu Qin, 28, of Wellesley, was hiking on the Falling Waters Trail in Franconia when a 5-foot-by-3-foot, 20-inch thick rock broke off a ledge and fell about 40 feet, striking her.
Lt. Todd Bogardus of New Hampshire Fish and Game said Shu suffered severe head injuries.
She was rushed to Littleton Regional Hospital where she died.
Bogardus said the incident was simply a tragic accident.
Shu was originally from Shanghai, China.
