If you think the economy is getting better, you'll have a tough time convincing some convicts in New Hampshire.

Two inmates at the Rockingham County jail have reportedly sent letters to the head of the Department of Corrections, asking if they could stay in jail longer, rather than be released.

Al Wright told the Union Leader he hasn't seen anything like it in his 28 years working in corrections.

"Unfortunately, jail is much nicer than on the street, and with the economy being so bad, it's getting more difficult getting them into a shelter," he told the paper.

Wright denied the inmates' request because he cannot legally keep them in jail longer that their sentences.
