Mont Vernon Residents Gather For Crisis Forum

MONT VERNON, N.H. (WBZ) ― Residents of a small New Hampshire town gathered Thursday night to begin the healing process following a brutal murder.

The Village School was used for a crisis forum in Mont Vernon. Two weeks ago, Kimberly Cates was stabbed to death at her home while she slept. Her 11-year-old daughter, Jaime, was seriously injured in the attack.

Some residents say it's been a struggle to return to normal.

"Everybody's on guard. Neighbors are all telling me they're locking their doors, which they never did before," one resident said.

They had a chance to receive information, ask questions and share their grief during Thursday night's meeting.

Four teenagers, 17-year-old Steven Spader, 19-year-old Christopher Gribble, 18-year-old William Marks, and 17-year-old Quinn Glover, were arrested and charged.

Spader and Gribble are charged with first-degree murder, in the death of Kimberly Cates; attempted murder, in connection with the attack on her daughter; and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Marks and Glover are charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and armed robbery.
