Pilot Charged In Ultralight Plane Crash

WINDAHM, N.H. (WBZ) ― The pilot of an ultralight plane that crashed into two homes in Windham, N.H. last week is being charged with reckless conduct.

Marjory Venditti, 47, was piloting the plane when it suddenly started flying erratically and hit the roof of one house and slammed into the side of a next door home on Harvest Road.

Venditti suffered broken ribs and a broken pelvis in the crash, but no one else was hurt.

After speaking with Venditti, her family and witnesses to the crash, authorities decided to charge her with one count of reckless conduct, a Class A misdemeanor.

An FAA inspection determined there were no mechanical problems with the plane. Investigators say they concluded that Venditti was "unfamiliar with the aircraft and with aircraft regulations, which dictate operational guidelines."

Windham police say Venditti's conduct and operation of the plane put residents in danger because she flew over a neighborhood at a low altitude, which led her to crash the plane into houses.

The owner of the home whose roof was hit in the crash told WBZ she is angry that Venditti flew the plane over such a congested neighborhood.

Venditti is scheduled to appear in court on March 23.
