Thousands of New Hampshire state union workers have spoken. They would rather risk layoffs than take furloughs.
N.H. Gov. John Lynch had warned that
hundreds of jobs were at risk unless the union agreed to a contract that required 19 furlough days over two years.
Monday night the union representing 11,500 workers voted to reject the contract proposal, a move the governor says has left him
"deeply disappointed."
Tuesday morning Lynch is preparing to let hundreds of workers go by the end of the month.
The governor says the contract would have preserved jobs, but the union says he had other options.
Should they have taken their chances with furloughs? Tell us what you think!
