No Medal For N.H. Olympic Race Walker

BOSTON (WBZ) ― New Hampshire race walker Joanne Dow will come home from the Beijing Olympics without a medal.

She finished 31st Thursday in the 20km race walk with a time of 1:34:15.

Olga Kaniskina of Russia won the gold in 1:26:31. Kjersti Platzer of Norway won the silver and Elisa Rigaudo of Italy took the bronze.

Dow, a 44-year-old mother of two from Manchester, is the oldest athlete on the U.S. Olympic Track and Field team.

Race walking has been a men's Olympic sport since the 1920s, but only became a women's Olympic sport in 1992.
