The capital murder trial of a man accused of killing a Manchester police officer is about to begin.
Opening arguments are set for Monday in the trial of Michael Addison, 28, who is charged with killing Officer Michael Briggs inĀ
October 2006.
Prosecutors are expected to argue that Addison knew he was wanted for two robberies and a shooting incident and would face harsh punishment if caught.
Addison's lawyers are expected to call into question whether the shooting was intentional. They've also asked for a second time to have the trial moved out of Manchester, arguing that questionnaires filled out by potential jurors show the community strongly aligned with the police.
The trial is expected to last up to eight weeks. Addison could face the death penalty if convicted.
