Text Messages Lead To Pizza Robbery Arrest
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ―
Police in Concord, N.H., are using an alleged robber's text message to his sister against him.
They say they anonymous tips made them suspect 27-year-old Robert Boyd had robbed Checkmate Pizza at knifepoint on June 7, but the text message confirmed it, the Concord Monitor reported.
According to police Detective Todd Flanagan, Boyd -- who lives in Concord -- named the pizza shop in his text, although he had one letter in the name wrong. Flanagan testified this week at a preliminary hearing.
Flanagan says Boyd gave a motive in a second text message: He said he had no money or food.
Flanagan says cell phones frequently provide evidence in criminal cases because people spend so much time communicating through them.
