Town Worker Charged With Pocketing Some eBay Sales
NORTH ANDOVER (AP) ―
A North Andover town employee has been charged with pocketing some of the money made from selling old town equipment on the Internet.
Police tell
The Eagle-Tribune that purchasing director Joseph Lydick of Derry, N.H., turned himself in Monday night and was charged with three counts of embezzlement by a municipal official and three counts of larceny over $250.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence District Court.
Police say part of Lydick's job was to sell surplus town equipment, including police cruisers and public works vehicles.
Police say much of it was offered on eBay.
Police started investigating after the town manager noticed discrepancies last week.
Lydick has been placed on unpaid leave.
His home phone number had been disconnected Tuesday morning.
