North Attleboro has ordered the owner of a German shepherd to remove the dog from the city or surrender it to an animal shelter after the city received dozens of complaints from neighbors, the
Sun Chronicle reported Friday.
According to the report, the dog's owner, Eduardo Perez, had been notified 50 times by animal control of repeat complaints from neighbors that his dog, named Lucy, was barking.
The complaints were received over a four-year period.
Neighbors told the Chronicle Lucy would bark for hour-long stretches and into the night.
Animal control gave Perez several recommendations, including a bark collar, according to the report, but four years and dozens of complaints later, the city says it's had enough.
Perez has the option of appealing the ruling. He has 10 days to make a decision.
