Ten people, including at least one child, were injured in a large house fire in Norwood late Friday night.
The fire broke out at a home on Pleasant Street around 11 p.m. Friday. First responders, including two Norwood police officers, are credited with saving the lives of those inside the home when they rushed in to help people escape the blaze. The officers were able to pull one victim from the lower level of the home.
Norwood fire Chief Michael Howard said had the officers not arrived on scene as quickly as they did, "The outcome probably would not have been what it was. They are definitely credited with saving that victim's life."
The extent of the victims' injuries are unknown, but Howard said two suffered burns and were taken to hospitals in Boston one to Massachusetts General and one to Brigham and Women's. The other eight victims were taken to Norwood Hospital.
Investigators said it appears the fire broke out on the first floor of the house, though the cause is unknown.
