Rescue divers in Billerica are searching Nutting Lake for a boater who disappeared under the water Wednesday night, police officials said.

Divers were searching the area of the lake between Middlesex Turnpike and Route 3.

The boater went missing after a small boat or canoe capsized just before 8 p.m.

Several police and fire rescue crews had been called to the scene. The search was expected to be suspended at 11 p.m. until Thursday morning.
