I guess it makes "cents" that this story comes from Concord, Massachusetts - a town that knows something about revolution.
Some merchants there are using the week of Abe Lincoln's birthday to launch their own cause.
They want independence from the penny.
It's not penny-ante, they are anti-penny.
Some shop owners will refuse to accept pennies and they hope to inspire businesses across the country to do the same.
The idea to ban pennies came from the owner of
Concord Teacakes in West Concord.
Judy Fersh says pennies are wasteful and time consuming.
Starting Thursday, Abe Lincoln's birthday, her bakery and other stores in West Concord will refuse to accept pennies.
Their goal is to convince President Obama to sign an executive order saying businesses can refuse pennies if they round down the purchase to the nearest nickel.
It's not the greatest timing for this anti-penny movement though.
The U.S. Mint plans to roll out four new designs for the penny this year.
