NH Officer Arrests His Chief For Drunk Driving
HAVERHILL, N.H. (AP) ―
The police chief of Haverhill, N.H., who has been recovering from serious injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash, has been charged with driving while intoxicated after one of his officers stopped him for speeding.
Forty-six-year-old Jeff Williams was arrested last Thursday.
He also faces a charge of disobeying a police officer.
A police report says Williams allegedly attempted to flee the officer, but was stopped a short distance later.
Williams has not returned to work since he was struck by a pickup truck while riding his motorcycle on April 2.
He has been out on paid medical leave.
